HOW WILL VIOLENCE BE STOPPED?
1) God destroyed the earth in the past due to violence.
The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with
violence. So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for
all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said to Noah,
“The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with
violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”
Genesis 6:11-13.
2) God hates wicked people who love violence.
The Lord tests the righteous, but the wicked and the one who loves
violence His soul hates. Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and
brimstone and a burning wind shall be the portion of their cup. Psalm
11:5-6.
3) Wicked people practice evil and violence.
Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of
evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on. For
they do not sleep unless they have done evil; And their sleep is taken
away unless they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of
wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. Proverbs 4:14-17.
4) Wicked people are fools who will be destroyed.
The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but
violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Hatred stirs up strife, but
love covers all sins. Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has
understanding, but a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of
understanding. Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of the
foolish is near destruction. Proverbs 10:11-14.
5) Jesus Christ died for all sin but lives eternally.
And they made His grave with the wicked—But with the
rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was any deceit
in His mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to
grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His
seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall
prosper in His hand. Psalm 53:9-10.
6) Jesus Christ will eliminate violence when He returns.
Violence shall no longer be heard in your land,
neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; But you shall call
your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise. “The sun shall no longer
be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to
you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, and your God
your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, nor shall your moon
withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, and the
days of your mourning shall be ended. Isaiah 60:18-20.
7) God promises eternal life to those who have faith in Jesus Christ.
And what more shall I say? For the time would fail
me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David
and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked
righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched
the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness
were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies
of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again. Others
were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain
a better resurrection. Still others had trial of mockings and
scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they
were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They
wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted,
tormented— of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts
and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, having
obtained a good testimony through faith, did not
receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that
they should not be made perfect apart from us. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so
great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin
which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race
that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of
our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne
of God. Hebrews 11:32-12:2
