Covenants of God
Note: God made a covenant with Noah to save him.
And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the
earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy
them with the earth. Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in
the ark and cover it inside and outside with pitch. And this is how you
shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its
width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. You shall make a
window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and
set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower,
second, and third decks. And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters
on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the
breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. But I will
establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your
sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. And of every living
thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to
keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of the birds
after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping
thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you
to keep them alive. And you shall take for yourself of all food that is
eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for
you and for them.” Genesis 6:13-21
And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me
and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual
generations: I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the
sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall be, when I
bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the
cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and
every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become
a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I
will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and
every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” And God said
to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established
between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.” Genesis 9:12-17
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet
seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his
household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the
righteousness which is according to faith. Hebrews 11:7
Note: God made a covenant with Abraham’s descendants for land.
And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that
behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that passed
between those pieces. On the same day the LORD made a covenant with
Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the
river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— the Kenites,
the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the
Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the
Jebusites.” Genesis 15:17-21
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Depart and go up from here, you and the
people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, to the land of
which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, to your descendants
I will give it.’ And I will send My Angel before you, and I will drive
out the Canaanite and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and
the Hivite and the Jebusite. Go up to a land flowing with milk and
honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the
way, for you are a stiff-necked people.” Exodus 33:1-3
Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of
Pisgah, which is across from Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the
land of Gilead as far as Dan, all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and
Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, the South,
and the plain of the Valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far
as Zoar. Then the LORD said to him, “This is the land of which I swore
to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your
descendants.’ I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall
not cross over there.” Deuteronomy 34:1-4
Note: God made a covenant with Abraham to be a father of many nations.
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and
said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I
will make My covenant between Me and you and will multiply you
exceedingly.” Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him,
saying: “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a
father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but
your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many
nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations
of you, and kings shall come from you. Genesis 17:1-6
For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to
Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness
of faith. For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void
and the promise made of no effect, because the law brings about wrath;
for where there is no law there is no transgression. Therefore it is of
faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be
sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to
those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all (as
it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the
presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and
calls those things which do not exist as though they did; who, contrary
to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many
nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”
And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already
dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of
Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief,
but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully
convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And
therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Romans 4:13-22
Note: The covenant with Abraham includes the promise of the Messiah.
Then the Angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time out of
heaven, and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you
have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son—
blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your
descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the
seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.
In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you
have obeyed My voice.” Genesis 22:15-18
You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with
our fathers, saying to Abraham, and in your seed all the families of
the earth shall be blessed.’ To you first, God, having raised up His
Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you
from your iniquities.” Acts 3:25-26
Brethren, I speak in the manner of men: Though it is only a man’s
covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it. Now to
Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to
seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.
And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years
later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in
Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect. For if the
inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it
to Abraham by promise. Galatians 3:15-18
Note: The sign of the Abraham’s covenant was circumcision for every male child.
And God said to Abraham: “As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you
and your descendants after you throughout their generations. This is My
covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants
after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised; and you
shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a
sign of the covenant between Me and you. He who is eight days old among
you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who
is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is
not your descendant. He who is born in your house and he who is bought
with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your
flesh for an everlasting covenant. And the uncircumcised male child,
who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall
be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.” Genesis 17:9-14
Then He gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so, Abraham begot
Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac begot Jacob, and
Jacob begot the twelve patriarchs. Acts 7:8
Note: The sign of the covenant between God and the Israelites was blood.
So, Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD and all
the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said,
“All the words which the LORD has said we will do.” And Moses wrote all
the words of the LORD. And he rose early in the morning and built an
altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according to the
twelve tribes of Israel. Then he sent young men of the children of
Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of
oxen to the LORD. And Moses took half the blood and put it in basins,
and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. Then he took the Book of
the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All
that the LORD has said we will do, and be obedient.” And Moses took the
blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the
covenant which the LORD has made with you according to all these
words.” Exodus 24:3-8
Now when these things had been thus prepared, the priests always went
into the first part of the tabernacle, performing the services. But
into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not
without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins
committed in ignorance; the Holy Spirit indicating this, that the way
into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first
tabernacle was still standing. Hebrews 9:6-8
For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the
death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead,
since it has no power at all while the testator lives. Therefore, not
even the first covenant was dedicated without blood. For when Moses had
spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took
the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop,
and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, saying, “This is
the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you.” Then likewise
he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the
ministry. And according to the law almost all things are purified with
blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. Hebrews
9:16-22
Note: The word of the covenant between God and Israel is the ten commandments.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write these words, for according to the
tenor of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”
So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither
ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the
covenant, the Ten Commandments. Exodus 34:27-28
And Moses called all Israel, and said to them: “Hear, O Israel, the
statutes and judgments which I speak in your hearing today, that you
may learn them and be careful to observe them. The LORD our God made a
covenant with us in Horeb. The LORD did not make this covenant with our
fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are
alive. The LORD talked with you face to face on the mountain from the
midst of the fire. I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to
declare to you the word of the LORD; for you were afraid because of the
fire, and you did not go up the mountain. He said: ‘I am the LORD your
God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of
bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for
yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven
above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under
the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the
LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers
upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate
Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My
commandments. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain,
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God
commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the
seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no
work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor
your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your
cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, that your male
servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. And remember
that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God
brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm;
therefore, the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded
you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in
the land which the LORD your God is giving you. You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear
false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet your
neighbor’s wife; and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his
field, his male servant, his female servant, his ox, his donkey, or
anything that is your neighbor’s.’ These words the LORD spoke to all
your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud,
and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He
wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.” Deuteronomy
5:1-22
Note: God will not completely destroy Israel due to His covenant.
“But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers,
with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that
they also have walked contrary to Me, and that I also have walked
contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies;
if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their
guilt—then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with
Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember; I will remember the
land. The land also shall be left empty by them and will enjoy its
sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; they will accept their
guilt, because they despised My judgments and because their soul
abhorred My statutes. Yet for all that, when they are in the land of
their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to
completely destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the
LORD their God. But for their sake I will remember the covenant of
their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight
of the nations, that I might be their God:
I am the LORD.” Leviticus 26:40-45
I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am
an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has
not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the
Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel,
saying, “LORD, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your
altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”? But what does the
divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand
men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” Even so then, at this present
time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. Romans
11:1-5
Note: The covenant with David was for his throne to be established forever.
“When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will
set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will
establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will
establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his Father, and
he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the
rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. But My mercy shall
not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before
you. And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever
before you. Your throne shall be established forever.” According to all
these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
2 Samuel 7:12-17
“Although my house is not so with God, yet He has made with me an
everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. For this is all
my salvation and all my desire; Will He not make it increase?” 2 Samuel
23:5
“David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one
shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes
and do them. Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to
Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there,
they, their children, and their children’s children, forever; and My
servant David shall be their prince forever. Moreover, I will make a
covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant
with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My
sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My tabernacle also shall be with
them; indeed, I will be their God, and they shall be My people. The
nations also will know that I, the LORD, sanctify Israel, when My
sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.” Ezekiel 37:24-28
Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found
favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring
forth a Son and shall call His name JESUS. He will be great and will be
called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the
throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob
forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Luke 1:30-33
“Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David,
that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath
to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would
raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, he, foreseeing this, spoke
concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left
in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. This Jesus God has raised
up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore, being exalted to the
right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of
the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. Acts
2:29-33
Note: God gives the Messiah as a covenant to all people.
“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul
delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to
the Gentiles. He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, nor cause His
voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed He will not break, and
smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth.
He will not fail nor be discouraged, till He has established justice in
the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law. Thus says God the
LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth
the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people
on it, and spirit to those who walk on it: I, the LORD, have called You
in righteousness, and will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You
as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles, to open blind
eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison, those who sit in darkness
from the prison house. I am the LORD, that is My name; And My glory I
will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images. Behold, the
former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; Before they
spring forth, I tell you of them.” Isaiah 42:1-9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this
present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom
be glory forever and ever. Amen. Galatians 1:3-5
Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead,
that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting
covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working
in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to
whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21
Note: God will make a new covenant with Israel and Judah.
“As for Me,” says the LORD, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit
who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not
depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor
from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the LORD, “from
this time and forevermore.” Isaiah 59:21
“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new
covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— not
according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day
that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My
covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the
LORD. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of
Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their
minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they
shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and
every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know
Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For
I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
Jeremiah 31:31-34
For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this
mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in
part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come
in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer
will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
For this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins.” Romans
11:25-27
For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have
been sought for a second. Because finding fault with them, He says:
“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new
covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— not
according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day
when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt;
because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them,
says the LORD. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house
of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their
mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they
shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none
his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for all shall know Me, from the
least of them to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their
unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember
no more.” In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first
obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to
vanish away. Hebrews 8:7-13
Note: The new covenant will be represented by the blood of the Messiah.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and
gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then
He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink
from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is
shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not
drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink
it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.” Matthew 26:26-29
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and
gave it to them and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took
the cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all
drank from it. And He said to them, “This is My blood of the new
covenant, which is shed for many. Assuredly, I say to you, I will no
longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it
new in the kingdom of God.” Mark 14:22-25
When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him.
Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this
Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I will no longer
eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” Then He took
the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among
yourselves; for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine
until the kingdom of God comes.” And He took bread, gave thanks and
broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given
for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup
after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which
is shed for you.” Luke 22:14-20
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that
the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is
My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the
same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the
new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in
remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this
cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell,
and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things
on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of
His cross. Colossians 1:19-20
But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the
greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not
of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His
own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained
eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes
of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of
the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the
eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your
conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this
reason, He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for
the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that
those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal
inheritance. Hebrews 9:11-15
And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according
to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay
here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible
things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by
tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as
of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained
before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last
times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the
dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. 1
Peter 1:17-21
John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace
from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven
Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful
witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of
the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own
blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him
be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Revelation 1:4-6
Note: The New Covenant will be evidenced by the Holy Spirit.
“Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and
authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what
you should say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour
what you ought to say.” Luke 12:11-12
“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But
the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He
will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things
that I said to you. John 14:25-26
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into
all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He
hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will
glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.”
John 16:12-14
And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart
from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He
said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but
you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord,
will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to
them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has
put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy
Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in
Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:4-8
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by
faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the
glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations,
knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance,
character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because
the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit
who was given to us. Romans 5:1-5
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans
15:13
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be
ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb
idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one
speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say
that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:1-3
And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are
sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves,
but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as
ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for
the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:4-6
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel
of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with
the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance
until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His
glory. Ephesians 1:13-14
But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man
appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but
according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration
and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly
through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His
grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:4-7
But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,
“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says
the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I
will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I
will remember no more.” Now where there is remission of these, there is
no longer an offering for sin. Hebrews 10:15-18
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the
churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and
Morning Star.” And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him
who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires,
let him take the water of life freely. Revelation 22:16-17
