Thanksgiving to God
1) Believers will give thanksgiving to God from their free will.
And when you offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, offer it of your own free will. Leviticus 22:29
2) Believers will give thanksgiving to God for His wondrous works.
I will wash my hands in innocence; So, I will go about Your altar, O
LORD, that I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of
all Your wondrous works. Psalms 26:6-7
3) Believers will give thanksgiving to God as He is good.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be
thankful to Him and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is
everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations. Psalms 100:4-5
4) Believers will be thankful that reflects the peace of God.
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender
mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one
another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against
another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all
these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the
peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one
body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:12-15
5) Grace causes the believer to give God thanksgiving.
And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is
written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and
therefore speak, knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also
raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. For all things
are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may
cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 4:13-15
6) Believers are to be thankful in prayer to God.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the
peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts
and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;
meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the
word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,
that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Colossians 4:2-4
7) Faithful believers will abound in thanksgiving to God.
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have
been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6-7
8) All food is to be received in thanksgiving to God.
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart
from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of
demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared
with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from
foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who
believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and
nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is
sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:1-5
9) Unbelievers will not be thankful.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness
and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown
it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible
attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are
made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without
excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as
God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their
foolish hearts were darkened. Romans 1:18-21
10) God will restore Israel and there will be thanksgiving.
For the LORD will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places;
He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden
of the LORD; Joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the
voice of melody. Isaiah 51:3
11) God will multiply Israel and there will be thanksgiving.
Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who
make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will
also glorify them, and they shall not be small. Jeremiah 30:19
12) In heaven everyone will give thanksgiving to God.
All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four
living creatures and fell on their faces before the throne and
worshiped God, saying: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom,
thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and
ever. Amen.” Revelation 7:11-12
