Page 3: Of mankind's Creator, the Bible tells us: "Before the mountains themselves were born, or you proceeded to bring forth as with labor pains the earth and the productive land, even from time indefinite to time indefinite you are God." (Psalm 90:2)
Note: Jesus Christ is changeless in His essence.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Page 4: Speaking of the birth of the Messianic Kingdom in heaven, Revelation 12:12 gives us cause for hope when it says: "On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing he has a short period time."
Correction: The Messianic Kingdom will be established after the tribulation.
Matthew 24:29-30 " Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."
Page 4: According to reliable Bible chronology and the fulfillment of Bible prophecy, we are now living at the close of that "short period of time."
Correction: It is according to Watch Tower chronology that Bible prophecy is fulfilled.
Revelation 6:14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
Note: Every mountain and island has not been moved yet.
Page 4: What a joy to know that Satan's time at large is soon to expire altogether! Once he has been put out of the way, obedient humans will be restored to perfection, and they can attain to the everlasting life that Jehovah purposed for them at the beginning.
Correction: The purpose of the Father is for everyone to trust the Son.
John 6:40 "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."
Page 4: Realizing that his time to influence humans is limited, Satan tries to keep people so busy that they have no time to listen to the good news of God's established Kingdom.
Note: Satan will also keep people busy proclaiming the Watch Tower false good news.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the good news which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you; unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
Page 4: True, in today's world everyone is busy. Nevertheless, Jehovah's Witnesses strongly urge you to spend some of your precious time to learn about God's requirements for gaining everlasting life under the rule of his Kingdom.
Note: Jehovah's Witnesses will never focus their message on Jesus Christ.
John 6:47 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life."
Page 4: An hour a week spent in systematically studying the Bible, "perceiving what the will of Jehovah is," may put you in line to experience personally the fulfillment of these words:"Turn away from what is bad and do what is good, and so reside to time indefinite. The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it."
Note: Have you done good by trusting Jesus?
Romans 3:21-22 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God , through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.
Page 5: And worst of all, it has weakened some people's faith in Jehovah and his organization.
Note: Jesus Christ is not an organization headquartered in New York.
Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Page 5: But we must realize that Jehovah reveals his confidential matters at the time he deems advisable. For that purpose God has authorized a "faithful and discreet slave" to provide his people with "their (spiritual) food at the proper time." (Matthew 24:45)
Correction: The context of the Scripture is the return of Jesus Christ to the earth.
Matthew 24:44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Pages 7-8: Our survival of that fast-approaching great tribulation depends upon our recognizing that today is primarily a time to weep.
Correction: True Christians place their trust in Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 1:10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead , even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
Page 8: Of course, the fact that Jehovah's servants "weep" over the sorry stat of world affairs does not preclude their being happy. There is abundant evidence to show that this description fits Jehovah's Witnesses, collectively, better than it does any other religious organization.
Correction: True Christians are servants of Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:1 Paul , a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle,
Page 8: Especially since the restoration of true worship in 1919 do Jehovah's happy people have reason for "laughter."
Correction: True worship never had to be restored.
Jude 1:3 for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
Page 8: Servants of Jehovah choose as friends individuals who have the same love for Jehovah and his righteousness that they do.
Note: True Christians love Jesus Christ.
John 14:21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."
Page 11: Since Jehovah is "the God who gives peace," peace can be experienced only by people who have love for God and deep respect for his kingdom principles.
Correction: True Christians have peace through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Page 11: To wage war on fellow humans - as so-called Christians have so often done, particularly in the 20th century - is unthinkable for genuine Christians. (James 4:1-4)
Note: It is ok for genuine Christians to protect themselves.
Luke 22:36 Then He said to them, "But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one."
Page 11: Today, divinely granted peace is to be found only among true worshipers of Jehovah God. (Psalm 119:165; Isaiah 48:18)
Correction: True Christians receive peace from Jesus Christ.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Page 11: The peace Jehovah's Witnesses enjoy is a modern-day miracle, one brought about by God in harmony with his promise: "I will appoint peace as your overseers and righteousness as your task assigners." Isaiah 60:17; Hebrews 8:10.
Correction: The Watch Tower peace is not a modern-day miracle since it misses Jesus.
Isaiah 60:19 "The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory."
John 1:9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
Revelation 21:22-23 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
Page 11: Not literal warfare, of course, since forcing the Bible's message upon others by armed might would contradict God's invitation to "let anyone that wishes take life's water free." (Revelation 22:17)
Note: True Christians receive eternal water from Jesus Christ.
John 7:37-38 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying , "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."
Page 11: The warfare Jehovah's Witnesses wage is strictly spiritual. Paul wrote: "The weapons of our warefare are not fleshly, but powerful by God for overturning strongly entrenched things." 2 Corinthians 10:4; 1 Timothy 1:18.
Correction: The Watch Tower warfare is strictly in man's wisdom.
1 Corinthians 2:13-16 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For "who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
Page 11: Chief among "the weapons of our warfare" is "the sword of the spirit, that is, God's word." (Ephesians 6:17) This sword is powerful. "The word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and their marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)
Note: Did anyone notice the trinity of mankind? (soul, spirit, and body-joints & marrow)
Page 11: By using this sword, Christians are able to overturn "reasonings and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God." (2 Corinthians 10:5) It enables them to expose false doctrines, harmful practices, and philosophies that reflect human rather than divine wisdom. 1 Corinthians 2:6-8; Ephesians 6:11-13.
Note: The Watch Tower teaches the soul is the body contrary to the word of God.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Page 12: And Bible writer Jude exhorted Christians "to put up a hard fight for the faith that was once for all time delivered to the holy ones." (Jude 3) Why must we do so?
Answer: Organizations like the Watch Tower will say the faith was lost for a time.
Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Page 12: Paul answers: "If you live in accord with the flesh you are sure to die; but if you put the practices of the body to death by the spirit, you will live." (Romans 8:13) In view of this clear statement, there can be no letup in our war against bad tendencies.
Correction: It is not your spirit but the Holy Spirit in context.
Galatians 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Note: Do you belong to Jesus Christ?
Page 12: In 1914, Jehovah's appointed time had arrived to establish the Messianic Kingdom and to authorize it to wage active war against Satan's system. The allotted time period for humans to experiment with man-made rule without divine interference expired at that time.
Correction: Jesus Christ began His kingdom reign long ago.
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."
Page 12: Consequently, in the face of Kingdom opposition, Christ has been forced to "go subduing in the midst of (his) enemies." (Psalm 110:2) Happily, Revelation 6:2 promises that he will "complete his conquest."
Correction: Revelation refers to the anti-christ.
Daniel 7:25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time.
Page 12: Since the 1914 turning point in human affairs, 85 years have passed.
Note: 1914 is based on the bogus date of 607 BCE for the destruction of Jerusalem.
Page 12: Then all those who have willfully rejected the message of God's Kingdom will experience the vengeance" that Jesus will bring "upon those who do not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus." 2 Thessalonians 1:6-9.
Note: Did anyone notice that the "good news" is about Jesus Christ?
Page 12: Plainly expressed, this means that every day we should remain watchful of world events and reckon with the outbreak of the great tribulation.
Correction: True Christians will be witnessing for Jesus Christ.
Acts 1:7-8 And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Page 13: Having recognized that now is indeed a time to speak, nearly six million Jehovah's Witnesses are zealously talking about the glory of God's kingship and warning of his day of vengeance.
Correction: True Christians are zealously talking about Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
Page 13: The destruction they foretold took place in 607 B.C.E., even though God's messengers had been contradicted by prominent and influential religious leaders.
Correction: Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 B.C.E.
In 588 BC Zedekiah led a revolt against Chadea, and two years later Nebuchadnezzar's army destroyed Judah and razed Jerusalem. Funk & Wagnalls, Volume 15, page 57.
Page 13: More anxious to please humans than God, they tell their parishioners what they want to hear instead of explaining that God's Kingdom is established and that the Messianic King is soon to complete his conquest.
Correction: True Christian ministers will preach Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:22-24 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Page 14: The leaders of the world empire of false religion, described in the Bible as an immoral woman, will choke on their own misleading cries of peace.
Note: The Governing Body will choke on their own misleading teachings.
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Page 14: For over a century, Jehovah's Witnesses have gone on record as being loyal defenders of God's Word, courageous opponents of false religion, and resolute supporters of God's Kingdom.
Correction: True Christians will preach Jesus Christ.
Acts 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.
Pages 14-15: The glorified brothers of Christ will take part in striking an outstanding victory for righteousness, in accord with the promise: "For his part, the God who gives peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly." (Romans 16:20)
Correction: Jesus Christ will destroy the powers of evil.
Revelation 19:15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Page 15: How blessed the lot of all on earth who survive this great manifestation of Jehovah's power!
Note: It will be the power of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 6:15-17 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"
Page 16: As a spirit-anointed Christian, Brother Barry had been invited to serve as a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses. (Romans 8:16, 17)
Note: Lloyd Barry was separated from the love of God.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Page 17: We are confident that as a joint heir in Christ, Brother Barry's interest in those "rightly disposed for everlasting life" will continue.
Note: I am certain that Lloyd Barry has been burned.
John 15:5-6 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned."
Page 17: Yet, we rejoice that Brother Barry endured faithfully to the end of his earthly course. Revelation 2:10.
Note: Lloyd Barry did not hold fast to the name of Jesus.
Revelation 2:13 "I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells."
Page 18: A good start in the course of discipleship is important, but what ultimately counts is that we finish the course. Jesus declared: "He that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved." (Matthew 24:13) The prize awaiting those who successfully finish the race is everlasting life!
Note: True enduring Christians will suffer for the name of Jesus.
Matthew 24:9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake."
Page 18: Through "the faithful and discreet slave," Jehovah has also provided the timely journals The Watchtower and Awake! and other Bible-based publications. (Matthew 24:45) Diligently studying these will fortify us spiritually.
Correction: Read and study the Bible first and foremost!
Ecclesiastes 12:12 And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.
Page 20: We are surrounded by a great many Witnesses of Jehovah in modern times. What grand examples of faith have been set by anointed Christians as well as men and women of the "great crowd"! (Revelation 7:9)
Note: True Christians are witnesses of Jesus Christ and His name.
Acts 10:43 " To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins."
Note: The "great crowd" is in heaven.
Revelation 19:1 After these things I heard a loud voice of a great crowd in heaven, saying, "Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our God!"
Page 20: And how wonderful it is to have the support of close friends and relatives who themselves are serving Jehovah faithfully! Yes, we have many to spur us on in the race for life.
Note: True Christians faithfully serve Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
Page 21: Jesus endured to the end of his human life by looking beyond the torture stake to his reward, which includes the joy he has in contributing to the sanctification of Jehovah's name, and in ruling as King and High Priest as he restores obedient humans to endless life on a paradise earth. Matthew 6:9, 10; 20:28; Hebrews 7:23-26.
Correction: Jesus Christ wants His name to be sanctified.
Matthew 18:5 "Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me."
Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
Mark 9:41 "For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward."
John 14:14 "If you ask anything in My name, I will do it."
Page 21: Jehovah has given us the deeply satisfying work of preaching the good news of God's Kingdom and of imparting the life-saving knowledge of the Bible to others.
Correction: The good news is about Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the good news which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you; unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
Page 21: And regardless of the response of the people to whom we preach, it is a privilege to have a share in the work connected with the sanctification of Jehovah's name.
Correction: True Christians sanctify and suffer for the name of Jesus.
Acts 9:15-16 But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake."
Page 21: And it is not easy to carry on as faithful, dedicated Kingdom proclaimers in view of the wars, the famines, the pestilences, and all the other hardships that mark "the time of the end."
Note: The Watch Tower has placed Jehovah's Witnesses under a curse from God.
Galatians 1:8-9 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other good news to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again , if anyone preaches any other good news to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
Page 21: Even if severe persecution and unforeseen occurrences along the way should make our race more difficult, we can endure to the end because Jehovah provides "the power beyond what is normal." (2 Corinthians 4:7)
Note: True Christians suffer for Jesus.
2 Corinthians 4:11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
Page 25: In the meantime, I used the opportunity to prepare the other two young Witnesses to face the test ahead. But the policemen chose instead to bring me back upstairs. They took off my clothes, and the five of them beat me for about an hour, trampling on my head with their army boots. Then they threw me down the stairs, where I lay unconscious for about 12 hours.
Note: True godly suffering involves Jesus Christ.
2 Tim. 3:12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
Page 26: Rather than stating his will or purpose plainly, at times Jehovah has intentionally obscured his prophetic sayings, using analogies, mystifying "dark sayings," or riddles that perplex.
Note: True Christians will know the mysteries of the kingdom.
Matthew 13:10-11 And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" He answered and said to them , "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given."
Page 26: Yet, something more is needed to unlock sacred secrets. While others may offer solutions to the riddles posed in the Bible, only their Author, Jehovah, the God of light, can reveal their intended meaning. 1 John 1:5.
Note: True Christians will rely on the Holy Spirit.
John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
Page 27: Rather than seek knowledge of the deep things of God through mysticism or shallow human wisdom, which can only lead to futility, let us confidently look to Jehovah God to turn the light of truth on his "dark sayings," making known his wonderful purposes to faithful servants at his appointed time.
Note: True Christians will rely on the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes , the deep things of God.
Page 29: So if we want to be spared through that tribulation, we need to know right from wrong according to God's standards; and, of course, we also need the moral strength to say no to wrongdoing in all its forms.
Correction: True Christians will be spared from that great tribulation.
1 Thessalonians 1:10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
Page 29: The July 1, 1957, Watchtower stated: "He must recognize his fleshly weaknesses and not think he can follow sensual desires to the Scriptural boundary line and stop there. Even if he may succeed in doing that for awhile, he will eventually be drawn over that boundary line into sin."
Correction: Sin goes beyond just actions.
Matthew 5:28 "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Page 30: This test came when they were ordered, on pain of death by fire, to participate in idolatry. Courageously, the three young men remained determined to worship only Jehovah, trusting fully in him whatever the outcome might be. Once again Jehovah blessed them for their faith and courage, this time by miraculously protecting them from the flames when they were thrown into a superheated furnace. Daniel 3: 1-30.
Note: They were protected by Jesus Christ.
Daniel 3:25 "Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."
Page 30: Jesus himself firmly said no to all wrongdoing; right down to the last moments of his life when soldiers offered him "wine drugged with myrrh." Accepting it might have weakened his resolve at that critical time.
Correction: The resolve of God can never be weakened.
Romans 9:3-5 For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh, who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.
Page 30: But why did Jesus say that only a few choose the cramped road? Primarily because only a minority want God's laws and principles to govern their lives and to help them resist the many inducements to and opportunities for wrongdoing around them.
Correction: Relatively few people have put their trust in Jesus Christ.
Galatians 3:24-26 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Page 31:As a result, Paul, though imperfect, kept his integrity to Jehovah right to the end.
Note: Paul kept his integrity to Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 2:3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
2 Tim. 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Page 31: They were spiritual men. They hungered for every utterance of Jehovah's mouth. (Deuteronomy 8:3) His word meant life to them. (Deuteronomy 32:47)
Note: Jesus Christ has the words to eternal life.
John 6:67-68 Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?" But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."
Page 31: Above all, they loved Jehovah and feared him, and with his help, they patiently cultivated a hatred for wrongdoing. Psalm 97:10; Proverbs 1:7.
Note: True Christians are loved by the Father due to their love for the Son.
John 16:26-27 "In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God."
