Polygamy is illegal in the United States, but Karim Abu Zaid can speak
about his two wives openly, because he knows that American authorities,
especially in far-left Colorado, will not risk charges of
“Islamophobia” by prosecuting him. Also, he is likely only legally
married to one of the women involved, at most, and so Colorado
authorities would have to go to the effort of proving that he was, in
fact, married to both of them in order even to begin contemplating a
prosecution. He can be secure in the knowledge that they will not make
the effort.
It is a shame, however, for if U.S. authorities actually enforced laws
against polygamy, they would catch a lot of jihadis. Jihadis tend to be
Sharia-adherent, and thus are often polygamous.
“Colorado Islamic Scholar Karim Abu Zaid on His Polygamous Marriage to
Two Wives: It Requires Patience and Sacrifice Because the Women Compete
with One Another; We’re Converting an Evangelical Church in Dallas into
a Dawah Seminary – Just Need to Remove the Crosses,” MEMRI, June 16,
2026: In a June 16, 2026
episode of the D3 podcast hosted by San Diego imam Uthman Ibn Farooq,
Colorado Islamic scholar Karim Abu Zaid discussed his polygamous
marriage to two wives, one Egyptian and one American….
Abu Zaid also discussed the Korean Evangelical church recently
purchased in the Richardson suburb of Dallas, Texas, which is being
converted into an Islamic complex that will include a seminary for
training Muslims in “dawah techniques” aimed at converting Christians
and Jews to Islam (see MEMRI TV Clip No. 12573). He said that the
complex requires no additional construction beyond the removal of the
baptismal pools and crosses….
It should be noted that Colorado law prohibits polygamy under the state’s criminal bigamy statute.
