Turin Muslim Cleric Hate

Italy expels Moroccan-born cleric The Italian authorities have expelled a Moroccan-born Muslim cleric under new anti-terror laws enacted in July.

Bouriqi Bouchta was detained by security officials during an overnight raid on his Turin apartment before being placed on a flight to Morocco.

Mr Bouchta has been accused of praising Osama Bin Laden and the Italian government described him as "a danger to national security".

The 40-year-old preacher has denied the accusations.

"They came at three or four in the morning and took him away. He didn't do anything," said Mr Bouchta's teenage son, who asked not to be named. Mr Bouchta had been resident in Italy since the early 1990s.

The Italian Interior Ministry said it was also considering taking similar measures in other cases.
