THE CROSS

Do You Take Seriously the Death of Jesus Christ for Your Sins?

1) Are you willing to suffer for Jesus Christ?
Matthew 10:38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me."
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."
Mark 8:34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."
Mark 10:21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me."
Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."
Luke 14:27 "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple."
Galatians 5:11 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased.
Galatians 6:12 As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

2) The gospel centers on the death of Jesus Christ on the cross.
1 Cor. 1:17-18 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

3) The sins of the world were paid for by Jesus Christ on the cross.
Ephesians 2:14-16 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of division between us, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.
Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Colossians 1:19-20 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
Colossians 2:13-14 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Let us ever glory in the cross of Christ,
our salvation and our hope.
Let us bow in homage to the Lord of life,
Who was broken to make us whole.
There is no greater love, as blessed as this:
to lay down one's life for a friend.
Let us ever glory in the cross of Christ
and the triumph of God's great love.

Let us make our journey to the cross of Christ,
Who surrendered glory and grace
to become a servant of the great and small,
that all people may know God's face.
Though his birth was divine, he knelt as a slave,
to wash common dust from our feet.
Let us ever glory in the cross of Christ
and the triumph of God's great love.

Let us tell the story of the cross of Christ
as we share this heavenly feast.
We become one body in the blood of Christ,
from the great to the very least.
When we eat of this bread, and drink of this cup,
we honor the death of the Lord.
Let us ever glory in the cross of Christ
and the triumph of God's great love.

Let us stand together at the cross of Christ
where we see God's boundless love.
We are saints and sinners who are joined
by faith here on earth and heaven above.
Neither woman nor man, not servant or free,
but one in the eyes of the Lord.
Let us ever glory in the cross of Christ
and the triumph of God's great love.
