Should You Believe in the Trinity?

AGAINST THE WATCHTOWER

CONCLUSION

The September 11th, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center in New York City revealed the depth of hatred by religious "pure" monotheists. Their actions reveal that Yahweh of Judaism, Allah of Islam, and Jehovah of the Watch Tower are distant, unlovable, and vengeful gods. Christians of Christendom have been reviled and attacked continuously in print and deed by these "pure" monotheists. For example, a Christian would have to renounce Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior to become a citizen of the nation of Israel. Likewise, Christians are grossly discriminated against in most Islamic countries around the world. Jehovah's Witnesses pride themselves for being peaceful yet Christendom is unjustly attacked in print by the Watch Tower magazine on a regular basis. Just one example out of many would be the Watch Tower of March 15, 1996 on page 10: "Chief among those disloyal to God are the clergy of Christendom."

The element that is missing in "pure" monotheism is love. The various gods of the "pure" monotheists are incapable of love since they were all alone before creation. For love to exist there must be a person or object to love by the person giving love. Evidence of this can be seen in the Qur'an of Islam where the word love is used less than ten times. Instead of love, the "pure" monotheistic religions resort to submission, domination, and self salvation through so-called good works. However, the God of Christendom has always been a God of love since each Person of the Trinity is co-equal and eternal. God in His love for human beings was manifested so that we would have a tangible Person to love and have as our Redeemer. His name is Jesus Christ. Saint Augustine wrote about the love that God the Father has for us as demonstrated through our Lord Jesus Christ in the tenth book of his Confessions. "How have You loved, good Father, who spared not Your only Son, but delivered Him up for us ungodly! How have You loved us, for whom He that thought it no robbery to be equal with You, was made subject even to the death of the cross, He alone, free among the dead, having to lay down his life, and power to take it again: for us to You both Victor and Victim, and therefore Victor, because the Victim; for us to You both Priest and Sacrifice, and therefore Priest because the Sacrifice; making us to You, of servants, sons, by being born of You, and serving us."

Thus I invite you to experience the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit by falling in love with Jesus Christ. For those of you who have experienced the love of God, go and proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to the glory of God the Father in both word and deed. Amen.
