Warnings from the Bible
He even set a carved image of Asherah that he had made, in
the house of which the Lord had said to David and to Solomon his son, "In
this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of
Israel, I will put My name forever; and I will not make the feet of Israel
wander anymore from the land which I gave their fathers--only if they are
careful to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all
the law that My servant Moses commanded them." But they paid no attention,
and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord had
destroyed before the children of Israel. And the Lord spoke by His servants the
prophets, saying, "Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these
abominations (he has acted more wickedly than all the Amorites who were before
him, and has also made Judah sin with his idols), therefore thus says the Lord
God of Israel: 'Behold, I am bringing such calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah,
that whoever hears of it, both his ears will tingle. 2 Kings 21:7-12
The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and
the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out
drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger. Do they
provoke Me to anger?" says the Lord. "Do they not provoke themselves,
to the shame of their own faces?" Jeremiah 7:18-19
Then all the men who knew that their wives had burned
incense to other gods, with all the women who stood by, a great multitude, and
all the people who dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah,
saying: "As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the
Lord, we will not listen to you! But we will certainly do whatever has gone out
of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink
offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes,
in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty
of food, were well-off, and saw no trouble. But since we stopped burning
incense to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have
lacked everything and have been consumed by the sword and by famine." The
women also said, "And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven and
poured out drink offerings to her, did we make cakes for her, to worship her,
and pour out drink offerings to her without our husbands' permission?"
Then Jeremiah spoke to all the people--the men, the women, and all the people
who had given him that answer--saying: "The incense that you burned in the
cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your
kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the Lord remember
them, and did it not come into His mind? So the Lord could no longer bear it,
because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you
committed. Therefore, your land is a desolation, an astonishment, a curse, and
without an inhabitant, as it is this day. Because you have burned incense and
because you have sinned against the Lord and have not obeyed the voice of the
Lord or walked in His law, in His statutes or in His testimonies, therefore
this calamity has happened to you, as at this day." Moreover, Jeremiah
said to all the people and to all the women, "Hear the word of the Lord,
all Judah who are in the land of Egypt! Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of
Israel, saying: 'You and your wives have spoken with your mouths and fulfilled
with your hands, saying, "We will surely keep our vows that we have made,
to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to
her." You will surely keep your vows and perform your vows!' Therefore,
hear the word of the Lord, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: 'Behold, I
have sworn by My great name,' says the Lord, 'that My name shall no more be
named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying,
"The Lord God lives." Behold, I will watch over them for adversity
and not for good. And all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt shall
be consumed by the sword and by famine, until there is an end to them.”
Jeremiah 44:15-27
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the
life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming
themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms
himself into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:13-14
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other
gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. Galatians
1:8
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men,
the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due
time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle--I am speaking the
truth in Christ and not lying--a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 1
Timothy 2:5-7
Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came
and talked with me, saying to me, "Come, I will show you the judgment of
the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth
committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with
the wine of her fornication." So, he carried me away in the Spirit into
the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of
names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in
purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls,
having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her
fornication. And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE
GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. I saw the
woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of
Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement. Revelation 17:1-6
