Church Message to Thyatira
“And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write, ‘These things says the Son of God (1), who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass: “I know your works (2), love (3), service (4), faith (5), and your patience (6);
and as for your works, the last are more than the first. Nevertheless,
I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel,
who calls herself a prophetess (7), to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality (8) and eat things sacrificed to idols (9). And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent (10).
Indeed, I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery
with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I
will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that
I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one
of you according to your works. Now to you I say, and to the rest in
Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the
depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. But
hold fast what you have till I come. And he who overcomes (11),
and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the
nations— ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed
to pieces like the potter’s vessels’— as I also have received from My
Father; and I will give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let
him hear what the Spirit says to the churches (12).”’” Revelation 2:18-29
1) Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Mark 1:1
2) Believers should have an urgency to this life.
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of
sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The
night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore, let us cast off the works of darkness,
and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the
day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in
strife and envy. Romans 13:11-13
3) Believers should love God and others.
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the
first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40
4) Believers should serve one another.
But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of
the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise
authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever
desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:25-28
5) Believers will have faith in Jesus Christ.
But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. Galatians 3:22
6) Believers will demonstrate patience.
We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our
prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love,
and patience of hope in our
Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, knowing, beloved
brethren, your election by God. 1 Thessalonians 1:2-4
7) The era of prophets ended with Jesus Christ.
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed
heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the
brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and
upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself
purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance
obtained a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1:1-4
8) Believers will not practice sexual immorality.
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;
that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in
sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who
do not know God. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
9) Believers will stay away from idols.
Therefore, I judge that we should not trouble those from among the
Gentiles who are turning to God, but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. Acts 15:19-20
10) No repentance leads to continued sin and judgment.
But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent
of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and
idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see
nor hear nor walk. And they did not repent of their murders or their
sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts. Revelation 9:20-21
11) Believers’ faith in Jesus Christ overcomes the world.
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone
who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. By this
we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His
commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His
commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is
born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has
overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:1-5
12) There is no one true organized church.
