Page 3: In whom, then, can we trust? This scripture continues: "Happy is the one who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in Jehovah his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, of the sea, and of all that is in them." - Psalm 146:3-6.
Clarification: We need to put our trust in Jesus Christ.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. Psalm 2:12.
Clarification: We need to put our hope in Jesus Christ.
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope. 1 Timothy 1:1.
Clarification: Jesus Christ created everything.
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16.
Page 4: There is no question that Jehovah God can provide security for his people. He is "the Almighty One." (Psalm 68:14) His unique name means "He Causes to Become." This identifies him as the only One in the universe able to overcome any obstacle in order to fulfill his promises and accomplish his will.
Clarification: Jesus Christ has overcome the world.
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33.
Page 4: God provides security for those who trust in him. His Word guarantees this.
Clarification: Why did the apostle Paul put his trust in Jesus Christ?
But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. Philippians 2:19.
Page 5: Though Jehovah permits trials to befall true Christians, they have the assurance that he will give them the strength, assistance, and wisdom to endure.
Clarification: Jesus Christ will give you strength.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13.
Clarification: Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit will also help you.
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. John 14:16.
Clarification: All wisdom is hidden in the Father and the Son.
That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:2-3.
Page 6: Over five million Witnesses of Jehovah are now proclaiming the good news of God's Kingdom in more than 230 lands.
Correction: We are to be proclaimers of Jesus Christ throughout the world.
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8.
Page 6: Jesus Christ foretold: "This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." - Matthew 24:14.
Clarification: The good news or gospel of the kingdom is about Jesus Christ.
Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
Page 10: Jehovah's Witnesses therefore realize that it is vitally important to read and study the Holy Scriptures and the Christian publications provided by God through the faithful and discreet slave class of anointed Christians.
Correction: There are no special classes of people with God.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28.
Page 11: The Christian apostle Paul later told his coworker Timothy: "While I am coming, continue applying yourself to public reading, to exhortation, to teaching." (1 Timothy 4:13) Another translation reads: "Devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture." - New International Version.
Page 19: It is beneficial to have the Bible read aloud at Christian meetings.
Note: Then why are the Watchtower magazines read from during the "public talks?"
Page 14: Looking inside, the king sees four able-bodied men, one of them "resembling a son of the gods." (Daniel 3:25)
Correction: When referring to God, the Hebrew word 'elohim is always translated as God.
"Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." Daniel 3:25.
When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it." John 11:4.
Contradiction: The Watchtower equates itself and its publications with the Holy Spirit.
Page 16: A family gains greater insight when reading the Bible if they do research by using the Watch Tower Publications Index or other indexes. The two volumes of Insight on the Scriptures can be consulted with benefits.
Page 17: To grow in our understanding of the Bible, we need the guidance of God's spirit, or active force.
Page 18: And our objective in reading the Bible and Christian publications should be to increase our comprehension of the great body of Scriptural truth that God has made available through the 'faithful slave.'
Correction: The Holy Spirit (a person not a force) will remind you of Scriptural truth.
For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say. Luke 12:12.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14:26.
Page 18: In our study of the Scriptures, we can appropriately pray to God as did the psalmist: "Send out your light and your truth. May these themselves lead me." (Psalm 43:3)
Clarification: Jesus Christ is the light of the world.
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." John 8:12.
Page 18: If we desire to have God's approval, we must walk in his truth. (3 John 3, 4) This includes abiding by his requirements and serving him in faithfulness and sincerity. (Psalm 25:4, 5; John 4:23, 24) We must serve Jehovah in truth, as revealed in his Word and made clear in the publications of "the faithful and discreet slave." (Matthew 24:45-47)
Clarification: Jesus Christ is the truth.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him." John 14:6-7.
Page 19: Very helpful in this regard is the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. It was prepared by dedicated servants of God who took advantage of the increased knowledge available concerning the original Bible text as well as its background and idiomatic expressions. Vital, too, are the Bible study aids Jehovah has provided by means of "the faithful and discreet slave."
Note: The men who comprised the Translation Committee had no adequate schooling or background to function as critical Bible translators. The self-appointed "scholars" who made up this Translation Committee were: N.H. Knorr, F.W. Franz, A.D. Schroeder, G.D. Gangas and M. Henschel. Aside from Fred Franz, none of the Translation Committee members knew Biblical Greek or Hebrew and Franz's ability is open to serious question. This came out in the Scottish Court Sessions in November, 1954 (just four years after the release of the Watchtower Scriptures). It is also interesting to note that no Greek scholar with any credentials will endorse the New World Translation. C.R.I., PO Box 500, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92693.
Page 20: The 'faithful slave' makes such use of the Bible in its publications, but never does it add to God's Word or take away from it.
Correction: Through misinterpretations, the Watchtower preaches paradise earth.
Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him. Acts 28:30-31.
Page 21: Soon thereafter, Jesus was arrested and put on trial. Here we learn that at times it is best to keep quiet, even when engaging in our Christian ministry. Intent on framing Jesus, the chief priests had no interest whatsoever in learning the truth. So in this volatile atmosphere, Jesus remained silent.
Correction: Jesus remained silent in order to fulfill Bible prophecy.
He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. Isa. 53:7.
But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; and I am like a mute who does not open his mouth. Thus I am like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth is no response. Psalm 38:13-14.
