WATCHTOWER - NOVEMBER 15, 1999

Page 4: When Jehovah God created the earth and everything on it, he did not intend that human kind be troubled by wickedness and suffering.

Note: Jesus Christ created everything.

John 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Pages 4-5: Because upon completing his creation, "God saw everything he had made and, look! it was good." (Genesis 1:31)

Note: God is a plurality of persons due to the use of plural pronouns in context.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

Page 5: This creature, Satan the Devil, later alleged that humans would not stay loyal to God under adversity. (Job 2:1-5) How did Jehovah react to this situation?

Correction: God does not react to the accusations of Satan.

Job 40:2 "Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it."

Page 5: Jehovah could have destroyed Satan and his supporters centuries ago. But has it not been better to wait until every conceivable doubt about the rightness of Jehovah's sovereignty and the integrity of humans to him is dispelled?

Correction: The salvation of believers is the issue not the sovereignty of God.

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Page 5: In view of the importance of the issues facing Jehovah and mankind - universal sovereignty and the integrity of humans - how wise it was of God to allow for time to pass!

Correction: The salvation of believers is the issue not the sovereignty of God.

Ephesians 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.

Pages 5-6: Now we see clearly what happens when humans ignore God's laws and take charge of their own affairs. The result is widespread evil.

Correction: Widespread evil has been evident for thousands of years.

Genesis 6:5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Page 5: Happily, though, God's Word indicates that wickedness will not last forever. In fact, Jehovah will soon put an end to evil and to those who cause it.

Note: Jesus Christ will put an end to evil upon the earth.

Revelation 6:15-17 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"

Page 6: Once again, the Bible can be of great benefit. It identifies Jehovah as a God of purpose, one who has sound reasons for everything he does. We ask, Would you construct a house without having a reason?

Note: Have you built your life upon Jesus Christ the Rock?

Matthew 7:24-25 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock."

1 Corinthians 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

Page 6: The prophecy of Isaiah identifies Jehovah as "the true God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it." Indeed, he is "the One who firmly established (the earth), who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited." (Isaiah 45:18)

Note: God did not use anyone else to create the universe.

Isaiah 44:24 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, And He who formed you from the womb: "I am the LORD, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;"

Page 7: Clearly, then, we can have confidence in the fulfillment of God's purpose to have the earth inhabited forever by obedient humans.

Correction: This current earth will be destroyed and replaced.

Revelation 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

Page 7: Living in harmony with Jehovah's purpose for mankind means getting to know the true God and conforming to his requirements as set out in the Holy Scriptures.

Note: Do you know Jesus Christ?

John 14:7 "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him."

Page 7: If you have not done so already, please take a close look at the contents of the Bible. Once you discover the true value of its guidelines for life, you may well feel as did the psalmist who looked to Jehovah God for guidance and sang: "Your word is a lamp to my foot, and a light to my roadway." - Psalm 119:105.

Note: Are you truly following Jesus Christ?

John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."

John 12:36 "While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light."

Page 9: What took place at the Watchtower Educational Center in Patterson, New York, U.S.A., on May 17-22, 1999, reminded the visitors of those ancient happy festivals. This was a week of special activity centering on the dedication of a 28-building complex that is designed to promote global Bible education. Provisions were made for all 5,400 members of the headquarters staff at Brooklyn, Wallkill, and Patterson to take comprehensive tours of the Patterson facilities during that memorable week.

Note: Why is the Watch Tower investing into buildings if the end is so soon?

Page 30: But good personal study helps us to regain a sharp view of our role as we get closer to the end.

Note: The Watch Tower practiced this hypocrisy in Germany 75 years ago.

However, at that time some of the more mature among the Bible Students began to catch on and to notice the discrepancy in the Society's statements about 1925 being the beginning of the Kingdom and the end of the present wicked world, and the Society's increasing activities of buying land, buildings, ordering printing presses, all making for expansion! The two just did not go together.

By the spring of 1925, when the world was supposed to come to an end according to the expectations raised by the Watchtower predictions, and the princes were scheduled to appear to us, there appeared in their place Judge Rutherford. He came with a pocket full of American dollars, which the Society had collected in the form of contributions for books, and soon bought us a brand new plot of land, and buildings, and machines. As soon as he left there began a year - long expansion program.

By the spring of 1925 the Society sent out a call throughout Germany for carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers, to build a shiny new Bethel factory and buildings. This affected a reorientation in my mind. Embued with success and advance I now became totally and zealously Organization-minded.

30 YEARS A WATCHTOWER SLAVE, pages 30, 46, 50.

Page 9: In the adjacent auditorium, which seats 1,700 comfortably, those visiting during the dedication festivities were treated to a 33-minute video presentation entitled "Not by Power - By My Spirit!" This video showed how the Watchtower Educational Center came about.

Correction: The Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus Christ not of buildings.

John 15:26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me."

Page 11: This was by no means all that the visitors saw. They examined construction displays in the Precast Shop and toured Wastewater Treatment facilities, the Powerhouse, the Water - Softening Facility, and the numerous maintenance shops, among others. It was the chance of a lifetime.

Note: God will destroy these facilities in the future.

Revelation 16:19 Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.

Page 12: John E. Barr stressed that divine education finds its basis in God's Word, the Bible, which encourages Christians to "go on bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the accurate knowledge of God." (Colossians 1:10)

Note: True Christians will know that they are in the kingdom of God already.

Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Page 12: Daniel Sydlik discussed how divine education is organized theocratically from the head of the Christian congregation, Jesus Christ, on down to every member of the worldwide brotherhood. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27)

Correction: There is no difference among each member thereby negating different classes.

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

Page 12: The final two parts of the symposium, developed by Gerrit Losch and Carey Barber, showed how divine education qualifies ministers to reach people everywhere and instruct them so that they too may walk in God's way. - Isaiah 2:1-4; 2 Corinthians 3:5.

Note: The Watch Tower leads people to a organization not Jesus Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Page 12: To conclude the fine program, Lloyd Barry of the Governing Body delivered the dedication talk on the subject "Building With Our Grand Creator." He pointed out that the Creator, Jehovah, takes delight in all of his creations and invites us to rejoice with him.

Note: True Christians will be rejoicing with Jesus Christ.

Revelation 19:9 Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!'" And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."

Page 12: Since "he that constructed all things is God," to Jehovah God goes the ultimate credit for all of this construction. (Hebrews 3:4)

Note: Jesus Christ constructed all things.

Hebrews 1:2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

Page 13: JEHOVAH gives his servants strength to do his will. (Isaiah 40:28-31)

Note: True Christians will derive their strength from Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Page 13: Surely, they should bear their Grand Creator in mind. If they do so, they will honor him and will benefit themselves. - Isaiah 48:17, 18.

Note: True Christians are benefited eternally by honoring Jesus Christ as God.

John 5:22-23 "For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him."

Pages 13-14: Another young person who remembered the Grand Creator was a captive Israelite girl. She gave such, a fine witness to the wife of Syrian army chief Naaman that he went to God's prophet, was cured of leprosy, and became a worshiper of Jehovah. (2 Kings 5:1-19)

Note: Jesus Christ never dissuaded people from worshipping him after a healing.

Matthew 8:2-3 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Page 14: But the finest example of one who remembered his Grand Creator while still of tender age was Jesus of Nazareth. Consider what happened when he was 12 years old. His parents took him to Jerusalem for the Passover. On the return trip, they noted that Jesus was missing; so they turned back to search for him. On the third day, they found him discussing Scriptural questions with teachers at the temple. Responding to his mother's anxious inquiry, Jesus asked: "Why did you not know that I must be in the house of my Father?" (Luke 2:49)

Correction: Jesus would ask questions first before giving answers to religious leaders.

Luke 2:46-47 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.

Luke 5:21-24 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise up and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"; He said to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."

Page 14: Today, the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses is an excellent place to acquire accurate knowledge of our Grand Creator.

Correction: True Christians will proclaim the Grand Creator who is Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:16-17 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Page 14: Yet, how happy they are, and how much we appreciate their faithful service! They have "the joy of Jehovah," for they know that he has assumed his invincible power toward this earth and has installed Jesus Christ as a powerful heavenly King. (Nehemiah 8:10)

Note: True Christians have joy in Jesus.

John 15:11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full."

Page 14: Now is the time for young and old to heed the exhortation: "You young men and also you virgins, you old men together with boys. Let them praise the name of Jehovah, for his name alone is unreachably high. His dignity is above earth and heaven." - Psalm 148:12, 13.

Note: True Christians will proclaim the name of Jesus.

Acts 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Pages 14-15: They have no spiritual comprehension that can counterbalance the trials of old age and the woes that have beset mankind since Satan was cast out of heaven. (Revelation 12:7-12)

Correction: Satan has not been cast out of heaven since massive plagues have not yet arrived.

Revelation 9:18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed; by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths. (2 billion people must die first)

Page 15: In life's wintertime of old age, things darken, especially for those who have passed up opportunities to serve Jehovah in their youth because of involvement in vain pursuits.

Note: True Christians serve Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:1 Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

Page 16: Yes, what about zealous elderly Kingdom proclaimers? (Job 41:4) They may walk slowly from house to house and some may speak with difficulty, but they surely praise Jah!

Correction: True Christians will proclaim Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:22-24 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Page 16: However, older anointed ones and their companions, some of whom also are not so young, keep on raising their voices in songs of praise to God at Christian meetings. How glad we are to have them at our side, extolling Jehovah in the congregation! - Psalm 149:1.

Note: Everyone in heaven sing songs of praise to Jesus Christ.

Revelation 5:8-10 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth."

Page 17: Such things indicate that he is nearing "his long-lasting house," the grave. It will be his home forever if he has failed to bear his Creator in mind and has pursued such a wicked course that God does not remember him in the resurrection.

Correction: Everyone will be resurrected to stand before the throne of God for judgment.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.

Page 17: The soul dies because the spirit, or life-force, given by God returns to and resides with our Creator. - Ezekiel 18:4, 20; James 2:26.

Correction: The body dies while the soul lives on.

Revelation 6:9-10 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"

Page 18: JEHOVAH supports those who keep remembering him as their Grand Creator.

Note: Is Jesus Christ "first place" in your life?

Colossians 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

Page 18: Moreover, Jehovah provides spiritual food and theocratic direction through "the faithful and discreet slave." (Matthew 24:45-47)

Correction: A true servant of God will be ready for the return of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 24:44 "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

Page 18: In many ways, then, God's people have heaven's blessing as they serve Jehovah and carry out the vital work of preaching the good news of the Kingdom. - Mark 13:10.

Note: The "good news" of the of the Kingdom is about Jesus Christ.

Acts 28:30-31 Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.

Page 19: Actually, it is the very height of vanity to ignore the Grand Creator in youth, to grow old without serving him, and to have only advanced age to show for a long time.

Note: Those not serving the Lord Jesus Christ are deceivers.

Romans 16:18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.

Page 19: Not everything is vanity for those who lay up treasure in heaven as Jehovah's faithful servants. (Matthew 6:19, 20)

Note: You can't use the treasure in heaven unless you will be in heaven!

Matthew 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Page 19: But if we are dedicated Christians, are we keeping busy in God-assigned work in these last days? (2 Timothy 3:1)

Note: Are you in love with Jesus Christ?

2 Timothy 1:13 Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

Page 19: They may be associated with various religions and may be quite devout, attending their houses of worship regularly and trying to carry out what their form of worship requires of them. Of course, they are not proclaimers of the Kingdom message.

Note: Have you received the kingdom of God into your life?

Mark 10:15 "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."

Note: Have you received Jesus Christ into your life?

John 1:12-13 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Page 19: Yet, if we realize that the normal pursuits of life have become our chief concern, why not make this a matter of prayer? Jehovah can help us to keep Kingdom interests first, do what is right, and fulfill our obligation to him. - Matthew 6:33; Romans 12:12; 2 Corinthians 13:7.

Note: Is Jesus Christ "first place" in your life?

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?; unless indeed you are disqualified.

Page 19: So they are aware of the commission Jesus gave to all his followers: "Go ... and make disciples of people of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you."

Note: Did anyone notice the trinity? The word "name" is singular.

Page 20: Why not give your prospects prayerful thought right now, so that you will find satisfaction in your sacred service to Jehovah in your younger years?

Note: Why not give your sacred service to Jesus Christ?

Romans 1:1 Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the good news of God

Page 21: Most of all Jehovah will not forget what anyone does in his service. (Hebrews 6:10-12) So, what can help us to remember our Grand Creator?

Answer: True servants of God will look forward to being rewarded by Jesus Christ.

Revelation 22:12-13 "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last."

Page 21: "As regards anything besides these, my son, take a warning: To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion to them is wearisome to the flesh."

Page 22: Like Solomon, let us meditate on what God's Word says about life. This will strengthen our faith and draw us closer to Jehovah. Excessive attention to other books or sources of instruction can wear us out.

Note: Are you tired of being devoted to Watch Tower books? Are you meditating on the Bible?

Psalm 119:148 My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may meditate on Your word.

Page 22: So, then, let us remember that the most beneficial writings of Solomon's day and out own are those that reflect the wisdom of the "one shepherd," Jehovah God.

Note: Are you truly following the one good shepherd?

John 10:14 "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own."

Pages 22-23: But the greatest incentive should be love for our heavenly Father, for the apostle John wrote: "This is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome." (1 John 5:3)

Note: Are you putting your trust and faith into the person or name of Jesus?

1 John 3:23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

Page 23: Let us therefore act wisely and obey Jehovah in all things. Especially is this vital now, for the King Jesus Christ is present, and the day of judgment by him as God's appointed Judge is near. - Matthew 24:3; 25:31, 32.

Correction: The presence of Jesus Christ has been since the 1st century not 1914.

Matthew 28:20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

John 14:18-19 "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also."

Page 23: Whether young or old, let us do all we can to please our Grand Creator. If we obey Jehovah and keep his commandments, we will reject the vain things of the passing old world. Then we can entertain the hope of everlasting life in God's promised new system of things.

Note: Are you keeping the "new" commandment of God?

John 13:34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another."

2 John 1:5 And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.

Page 25: Godly discernment is the ability to distinguish right from wrong and then to choose the correct course. Unless we 'incline our heart' to discernment or are eager to acquire it, how can we stay on "the road leading off into life"? (Matthew 7:14; compare Deuteronomy 30:19, 20.)

Answer: A true Christian will focus on Jesus Christ. (Compare John 14:6)

John 15:4-6 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned."

Page 25: Consider what great treasures await us if we with an honest heart dig deep into the Bible. Why, we would find "the very knowledge of God" - the sound, stable, life-giving knowledge of our Creator! (John 17:3)

Note: Have you found the sound, stable, life-giving relationship with Jesus Christ?

John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

Page 25: The healthy fear of displeasing him must govern every aspect of our life, adding a spiritual dimension to all that we do. - Ecclesiastes 12:13.

Correction: A personal relationship with Jesus Christ must govern every aspect of our life.

John 10:27-25 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand."

Page 25: For our education in his Word and ways, Jehovah has also provided Christian meetings. We need to attend these regularly, give ear to what is being said, put forth earnest effort to concentrate on and treasure up key thoughts, and think deeply about our relationship with Jehovah. - Hebrews 10:24, 25.

Note: Do you personally know Jesus Christ?

John 8:19 Then they said to Him, "Where is Your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also."

Page 26: We too should pray for Jehovah's help as we diligently study his Word. The psalmist prayed: "Instruct me, O Jehovah, about your way. I shall walk in your truth. Unify my heart to fear your name." (Psalm 86:11)

Note: In the name of Jesus have you received God into your life?

Mark 9:37 "Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me."

Page 28: Jesus Christ was aware of the difficulties associated with the commission to make disciples. (Matthew 28:19, 20) He sent his followers forth as "sheep amidst wolves," knowing that their preaching activity would bring persecution upon them. (Matthew 10:16-23)

Note: True Christians will be persecuted for the name of Jesus.

Matthew 24:9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake."

Page 28: Yet, this was not a reason for them to become discouraged. In fact, God's servants who have prayerfully relied on Jehovah have often been strengthened by persecution.

Note: True Christians will be persecuted for the name of Jesus.

Acts 5:41-42 So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

Page 29: The "good news of the kingdom" is received with gratitude by individuals "conscious of their spiritual need." (Matthew 5:3; 24:14)

Note: When Christ is preached, the "good news of the kingdom" is being preached.

Acts 8:5-8 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city.

Page 29: Our evangelizing work makes Jehovah's name known. Whether people listen or not, our preaching activity contributes to the sanctification of Jehovah's holy name.

Correction: True Christian evangelizing work makes the name of Jesus known.

Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

Page 30: In contrast with unbelievers, however, Christians should rejoice to see in these trialsome conditions the "sign" of Jesus' presence, which indicates that God's Kingdom will soon bring an end to this wicked system of things. (Matthew 24:3-14)

Correction: Christians will rejoice in the true presence of Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:27 which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
