Signs of the End Time or Latter Days
1) Evil will come upon the Jews in the latter days.
So it
was, when Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book,
when they were finished, that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the
ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying: “Take this Book of the Law,
and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it
may be there as a witness against you; for I know your rebellion and
your stiff neck. If today, while I am yet alive with you, you have been
rebellious against the Lord, then how much more after my death? Gather
to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may
speak these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to witness
against them. For I know that after my death you will become utterly
corrupt and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you. And
evil will befall you in the latter days,
because you will do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to
anger through the work of your hands.” Deuteronomy 31:24-29
2) People will be self-centered in the perilous last days.
But know this, that in the last days
perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers
of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without
self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4traitors, headstrong,
haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of
godliness but denying its power. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
3) Scoffers of Jesus Christ will be prevalent in the last days.
Beloved, I now write to you this
second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of
reminder), that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken
before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles
of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will come in
the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His
coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they
were from the beginning of creation.” For this they willfully forget:
that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing
out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed
perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which
are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day
of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget
this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and
a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His
promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not
willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the
heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt
with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be
burned up. 2 Peter 3:1-10
4) Armies will invade the land of Israel in the latter days.
Now the word of the Lord came to me,
saying, “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog,
the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and
say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the
prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks
into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and
horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and
shields, all of them handling swords. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are
with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer and all its
troops; the house of Togarmah from the far north and all its
troops—many people are with you. “Prepare yourself and be ready, you
and all your companies that are gathered about you; and be a guard for
them. After many days you will be visited. In the latter years
you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and
gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long
been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of
them dwell safely. You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the
land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you.”
Ezekiel 38:1-9
5) God will be magnified when He destroys those armies.
“Therefore, son of man, prophesy and
say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “On that day when My people Israel
dwell safely, will you not know it? Then you will come from your place
out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding
on horses, a great company and a mighty army. You will come up against
My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days
that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me,
when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.” Thus says the
Lord GOD: “Are you he of whom I have spoken in former days by My
servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years in those days
that I would bring you against them? “And it will come to pass at the
same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” says the Lord
GOD, “that My fury will show in My face. For in My jealousy and in the
fire of My wrath I have spoken: ‘Surely in that day there shall be a
great earthquake in the land of Israel, so that the fish of the sea,
the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things
that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth
shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the
steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.’ I
will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains,” says
the Lord GOD. “Every man’s sword will be against his brother. And I
will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain
down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him,
flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus, I will
magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of
many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.”’ Ezekiel
38:14-23
6) God will expand Israel in the latter days.
So, Balaam said to Balak, “Did I not
also speak to your messengers whom you sent to me, saying, ‘If Balak
were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go
beyond the word of the LORD, to do good or bad of my own will. What the
LORD says, that I must speak’? And now, indeed, I am going to my
people. Come, I will advise you what this people will do to your people
in the latter days.” So he
took up his oracle and said: “The utterance of Balaam the son of Beor,
and the utterance of the man whose eyes are opened; The utterance of
him who hears the words of God, and has the knowledge of the Most High,
who sees the vision of the Almighty, who falls down, with eyes wide
open: “I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; A Star shall
come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and batter the
brow of Moab, and destroy all the sons of tumult. And Edom shall be a
possession; Seir also, his enemies, shall be a possession, while Israel
does valiantly. Out of Jacob One shall have dominion and destroy the
remains of the city.” Numbers 24:12-19
7) Jews will understand the anger of the Lord in the latter days.
For who has stood in the counsel of
the Lord, and has perceived and heard His word? Who has marked His word
and heard it? Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord has gone forth in
fury— A violent whirlwind! It will fall violently on the head of the
wicked. The anger of the Lord will not turn back until He has
executed and performed the thoughts of His heart. In the latter days you will understand it perfectly. Jeremiah 23:18-20
8) Jews will seek God in the latter days.
“When you beget children and
grandchildren and have grown old in the land, and act corruptly and
make a carved image in the form of anything, and do evil in the sight
of the LORD your God to provoke Him to anger, I call heaven and earth
to witness against you this day, that you will soon utterly perish from
the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess; you will not
prolong your days in it, but will be utterly destroyed. And the LORD
will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number
among the nations where the LORD will drive you. And there you will
serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see
nor hear nor eat nor smell. But from there you will seek the LORD your
God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with
all your soul. When you are in distress, and all these things come upon
you in the latter days, when
you turn to the LORD your God and obey His voice (for the LORD your God
is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget
the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them. Deuteronomy 4:25-31
9) The Jews will come back to God in the latter days.
For the children of Israel shall
abide many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred
pillar, without ephod or teraphim. Afterward the children of Israel
shall return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They
shall fear the Lord and His goodness in the latter days. Hosea 3:4-5
10) Knowledge will increase and personal judgment rendered in the latter days.
“At that time Michael shall stand up,
the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And
there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a
nation, even to that time. And at that time your people shall be
delivered, everyone who is found written in the book. And many of those
who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting
life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall
shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to
righteousness like the stars forever and ever. But you, Daniel, shut up
the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” Daniel 12:1-4
11) Believers are saved by faith in Jesus Christ for salvation to be revealed.
Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us
again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from
the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does
not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of
God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5
12) People will go to Jerusalem to hear and learn from God.
The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top
of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations
shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let
us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.” For out of
Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Isaiah 2:1-3
Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top
of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills; And peoples
shall flow to it. Many nations shall come and say, “Come, and let
us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.” For out of
Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
