BOOK OF MORMON - Critique of Alma


The account of Alma, who was the son of Alma, the first and chief judge over the people of Nephi, and also the high priest over the Church. An account of the reign of the judges, and the wars and contentions among the people. And also an account of a war between the Nephites and the Lamanites, according to the record of Alma, the first and chief judge.

 

Chapter 1 - False teaching immediately becomes a problem under the leadership of Alma in his BCE church.

Chapter 2 - Amlici wants to be king but Alma kills him and Nephites defeat Lamanites in 87 BCE America!

Chapter 3 - Lamanites are cursed with a mark and Nephites defeat the Lamanites for the third time in one year.

Chapter 4 - Church descends into iniquity and Alma appoints Nephihah as chief judge.

Chapter 5 - Alma delivers the word to all the people in the land of Zarahemla in 83 BCE America.

Chapter 6 - Alma appoints priests and elders in Zarahemla; he leaves for Gideon in 83 BCE America.

Chapter 7 - Alma preaches to the Gideons about Jesus Christ and baptism in 83 BCE America.

Chapter 8 - Alma preaches in the land of Melek but is rebuffed in Ammonihah. He returns by revelation!

Chapter 9 - Alma preaches to the people of Ammonihah that they must repent, be baptized, and have faith.

Chapter 10 - Amulek preaches to the people of Ammonihah but is opposed by lawyers in 82 BCE America.

Chapter 11 - Coinage in America is described. Amulek describes the nature of God and the resurrection.

Chapter 12 - Alma contends with Zeezrom and Joseph Smith was ignorant of the plan of God.

Chapter 13 - Alma preaches about high priests, Melchizedek, angels, and the coming of Jesus Christ.

Chapter 14 - Alma is imprisoned in Ammonihah for many days and then is suddenly released by the power of God.

Chapter 15 - Alma and Amulek establish a church in Sidom, heal Zeezrom, and retreat to Zarahemla.

Chapter 16 - Lamanites kill the Ammonihah people; Nephites fight back; the church is established everywhere.

Chapter 17 - Alma meets Ammon and discovers that he was a servant of a pagan king resulting in a 14 year u-turn.

Chapter 18 - Ammon goes through a question and answer session with king Lamoni and refutes LDS doctrines.

Chapter 19 - King Lamoni and believers experience a charismatic swoon, are baptized, and a church formed.

Chapter 20 - Ammon wins a sword duel with old King Lamoni and gets his brothers released from prison.

Chapter 21 - Aaron visits Jerusalem but returns to the land of Ishmael; numerous synagogues were established.

Chapter 22 - Lamoni's father is converted and JS was ignorant of South American geography and history.

Chapter 23 - Lamanites are converted and become known as Antis while others harden their hearts.

Chapter 24 - Lamanites come and murder the Antis but some are converted and saved despite their murders.

Chapter 25 - Lamanites are defeated by the Nephites and then turn on each other. Believers are known as Antis.

Chapter 26 - Ammon boasts about everything God has done through him.

Chapter 27 - Ammon meets Alma and faints. He then saves the Antis and they are called the people of Ammon.

Chapter 28 - Nephites and Lamanites fight largest battle yet. JS was confused about happiness and sorrow.

Chapter 29 - Alma wants to be an angel and declares that the church was established with the Israelites.

Chapter 30 - Korihor, the antichrist, contends with Alma in 74 BCE America!

Chapter 31 - Alma leads a mission to reclaim the apostate Zoramites in 74 BCE America!

Chapter 32 - Alma teaches the Zoramites using the New Testament in 74 BCE America!

Chapter 33 - Alma teaches the Zoramites using the teachings of Zenos and Zenock!

Chapter 34 - Almulek teaches the Zoramites using blurred doctrines in 74 BCE.

Chapter 35 - Alma returns to the land of Zarahemla via Jershon and war breaks out in 74 BCE.

Chapter 36 - Alma has a powwow with his son Helaman in 73 BCE America.

Chapter 37 - Alma continues his powwow with Helaman in 73 BCE America.

Chapter 38 - Alma has a powwow with his son Shiblon in 73 BCE America.

Chapter 39 - Alma has a powwow with his son Corianton in 73 BCE America.

Chapter 40 - Alma (Sidney Rigdon) gives his opinion about the resurrection from the dead.

Chapter 41 - Alma (Sidney Rigdon) gives his opinion about the restoration of the dead.

Chapter 42 - Alma (Sidney Rigdon) gives his opinion on salvation.

Chapter 43 - Alma's preaching causes a war in the Llanos or Amazon Basin areas.

Chapter 44 - Moroni completely defeats the Lamanites in 73 BCE South America.

Chapter 45 - Alma prophecies about the disappearance of the Nephites then he disappears.

Chapter 46 - Moroni rallies the people and believers are called Christians in 73 BCE South America.

Chapter 47 - Amalickiah uses treachery, murder, and intrique to become king of the Lamanites.

Chapter 48 - Amalickiah incites the Lamanites against the Nephites. Moroni prepares the Christians.

Chapter 49 - Amalickiah curses God as he is unable to defeat the Nephites.

Chapter 50 - Moroni sends an army into Central America after Morianton and kills him.

Chapter 51 - Lamanites capture many fortified cities, however Amalickiah is killed.

Chapter 52 - Moroni leads the Nephities in a victorious battle against the Lamanites.

Chapter 53 - The city of Bountiful is fortified and Helaman takes command.

Chapter 54 - Nephities and Lamanites enter into negotiations to exchange prisoners.

Chapter 55 - Nephite POWs escape due to drunk Lamanite guards.

Chapter 56 - Helaman two thousand sons gain a great victory over the Lamanites.

Chapter 57 - Helaman two thousand sons are all wounded but do not die.

Chapter 58 - Helaman forces a Lamanite withdrawal while liberty and faith increase.

Chapter 59 - Moroni strengthens Helaman but is angry with the government.

Chapter 60 - Moroni threatens treason and to fight against the government.

Chapter 61 - Government in league with the Lamantes against Moroni.

Chapter 62 - Moroni defeats the government and Lamanties resulting in peace.

Chapter 63 - Nephities travel to North America while ships are built that travel the Pacific.
